Biography

Jorge Ruiz Vinent was Born in Baracoa, Guantanamo, Cuba, on July 25th, 1985. From a very young age he began to show his interest in the Fine Arts, demonstrating his talent in children’s drawing and painting competitions. At the age of 9, he began to receive painting classes with the fine artist, Luis Eliades Rodriguez. Upon reaching the age of 12, he began a painting course with the painter Orlando Piedra Labañino, from whom he learned many skills and techniques.
In the year 2000 he entered the Provincial School of Art Instructors, in Guantánamo, where he stood out in his group for his talent, being one of the best painting students. He participated in competitions, exhibitions and events. He graduated in 2004 and began to work as a professor of Fine Arts and as an artist, he started making himself known with his talent in exhibitions in Baracoa, and received great recognition for his great work as a painting teacher for children and for young people. In 2008 he was part of the Heart Culture Mission Inside Venezuela, taking art to the poorest and most in need neighbourhoods of Caracas.
Ruiz Vinent has been recognized for his work as a fine artist in Baracoa, forming part of the new generation of creators and standing out for his constancy in creating and representing daily life, not only of Cubans but of human beings in general: their problems, dreams, experiences, desires, solutions, criticism, and other social issues are part of his artistic creation.

As part of the avant-garde of Fine Arts of Baracoa and Guantánamo, Ruiz Vinent work appears in Fine Arts books such as “Baracoa the Magic of its painters” published in the United States, and “Baracoa and its Culture” published in France. In the year 2007. He creates the Arts project: ¨ESTUDIO XXI¨, together with other young artists of the territory in order to bring fine arts to open spaces, such as neighbourhoods, communities, streets. Currently the ESTUDIO XXI project is working on the realization of mural paintings to beautify the city. Ruiz Vinent directs and organizes the Sociocultural Environmental Project TOART

His paintings are in private exhibitions, in countries such as: USA, Germany, Italy, France, England, Australia, Spain, Belgium, Switzerland, Russia, and others. With the colours and composition of the houses in the “Cubanías” series, the artist presents the personality and the happiness of the Cuban people with a message of hope.
