Mary Raphael was born in North West Greece and came to Australia as an older child with her family. Mary’s love of art began at an early age, and she continued to pursue various avenues to discover where her artistic passion lay.
All the knowledge Mary gained throughout her studies, contributed to her skill as an artist.
She was consistently involved with painting and other art projects.
Travel and her environment, especially the Australian Outback, have continued to be a
a strong influence on her work.
From 2007 to 2009 Mary lived and worked in Darwin and she has travelled extensively
throughout the Northern Territory.
She teaches contemporary art, and she also runs workshops.
The themes of Mary’s work emerge from her surroundings, her travels, her imagination, her
emotions and her intuition.
